ELA- In a paragraph that will be included in your PowerPoint, analyze the setting of the book, "The Giver". Include details on the time and place recorded in the book. Compare and contrast some similarities and differences between Utopia and Dystopia. Also, make a list of the ceremonies that take place in Jonas's community and the age each person is when they take part in these ceremonies.

Be as creative as possible, and you may also include pictures too. This will be a separate Google Docs or Notability file that will be handed in along with your PowerPoint. Please email this portion of the project to Miss Berardi on Friday. When you finish your PowerPoint, try to share it with my email: [email protected] and I will let you know if I received it! This is all due Friday, 5/29 NO EXCEPTIONS! Novel Final Project: Create Your Own Society 4 paragraphs following this outline:
1. Name Your Society: Paragraph One
▪ What is the name that you have chosen? ▪ What does the name mean? ▪ Where did it come from? ▪ How does it represent your society?
2. Society Location: Paragraph Two
▪ Choose a location for your society and record its population. Explain why you chose this location. Describe what it looks like there and if there are any important homes/buildings/structures/tourist attractions/etc. You may even draw a map to include in this section.
3. Government: Paragraph Three
Will your society be democratic, totalitarian, monarchy, or an oligarchy? Who are the leaders? How are the laws made? Who enforces the laws? Can your society be considered a Utopia or Dystopia? Why or why not?
